Run time: 35 min. | USA
The 1960s and ‘70s were a time of unrest in this country as the Anti-War Movement and the Civil Rights Movement profoundly changed America.  Yet there were other important social changes taking place in this time period that have gone unrecognized and unheralded—until now.  The Asian American Movement was born in this period and Chris Iijimi’s music provided a voice and identity for the Movement.  Through photographs, home movies, archival footage, interviews and Chris’ own songs, A Song for Ourselves provides a fascinating portrait of this little-known movement and the man who gave voice to it.
