Run time: 95 min. | France
Bertrand, a brilliant attorney, arrives in Monaco to defend a 70-year old woman accused of murder. A man of great self-control, he is quite certain he can win the trial. But his life is turned upside down when he meets Audrey, an ambitious, cheeky and sexy weather girl from the local channel. She turns him into a complete wreck and it quickly becomes clear that he is incapable of loving and letting himself be loved out of fear of loosing his bearings. It is his assigned bodyguard, Christophe, a taciturn and athletic man, who will guide him, taking control over Bertrand’s sentimental life as if he was also responsible for his emotional destiny. The two men, whose social backgrounds and personalities are opposed, will grow to like each other. Although they have nothing in common, Audrey touches that very part of Bertrand, which resists and he lets himself go, probably for the first time in his life. As in other Anne Fontaine’s films, such as Dry Cleaning, location plays a central role in La Fille de Monaco: Bertrand’s rigid and neurotic personality stands in sharp contrast to the Mediterranean city known for its exuberance.
