The Scenesters is an innovative and complex film noir tribute to the City of Los Angeles. A dark comedy that uses clips from a variety of sources – courtroom transcripts, crime scene videography, news reports, etc. – all detail how a group of Los Angeles twentysomethings got mixed up in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a prolific serial killer. The plot is related in a court trial interrogation and told through flashback. There are many references to almost forgotten locales and establishments in L.A: a zoo, a streetcar line, a neglected neighborhood, etc, photographed in both color and black and white. Suzanne May, spoofing the typical investigative TV reporter is a hoot with her ability to switch accents on and off camera. Tongue-in-cheek jokes about documentary filmmaking abound. Starring Blaise Miller, Jeff Grace, Kevin M. Brennan, Sherilyn Fenn, Suzanne May, Monika Jolly, Brian Husky and Todd Berger.
