Where to begin? Let's see: originally filmed under the title Goblins by Italian director Claudio Fragasso under the nom de cinema Drake Floyd, the title was later changed to Troll 2 in a dubious attempt to market the film by association with a 1986 horror flick titled—are you ready—Troll... EVEN THOUGH there are no trolls in Troll 2. The plot, such as it is, has something to do with a family visiting a small country town called Nilbog (goblin spelled backwards, ahem) but whose lives are plunged into a nightmare when relentlessly pursued by vegetarian goblins who turn people into plants before eating them. The film cries out for the Criterion special six-DVD box set with a lavishly illustrated booklet, but, in the meantime, don't miss this opportunity to catch it on The Big Screen. Troll 2 has inspired one of the best documentaries in years, The Best Worst Movie, and has garnered one of the largest cult followings such the glory days of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid. We're not certain of what, but Be Afraid.
